DCC decoder sockets
Fitting a DCC decoder starts with the socket a locomotive actually has — not every
manufacturer's product page states this plainly, and the socket names themselves overlap
(21MTC and 21-pin NEM are the same socket, for example). This page lines up TCS's and
SoundTraxx's own published decoder specs by socket standard, and then by locomotive brand:
what TCS lists as its official WOWKit-compatible models, what SoundTraxx records as a
factory-installed decoder history, and what Drop-In replacement board each brand has.
Digitrax decoders and sockets are not covered on this page. Digitrax's own Terms of Use (checked
2026-09-25) limit use of its site content to personal, non-commercial use and prohibit public
display or reproduction — since this is a public site, no Digitrax data was collected. This
is a sourcing exclusion, not a compatibility judgment.

Known gaps in this batch
- PluX22: not found in this batch on either TCS or SoundTraxx's product pages (Digitrax was excluded, see above and not checked).
- TCS's own cross-brand “Find Your Decoder” chart pages are a client-rendered single-page app; the raw HTML this batch could fetch doesn't contain the chart's data rows. This batch used TCS's individual product pages (server-rendered, with structured Specs/Compatibility sections) instead, which is why the WOWKit compatibility lists above come from each kit's own product page rather than the chart.
- TCS Z2's socket/interface type is not published on its product page in this batch — not guessed from the decoder's physical size.
